Here at Radio Respect, we are dedicated to bringing the mental health community closer together, helping people understand their condition, provide a friendly voice, offer helpful, practical, information, while reaching people from all over the world - we have listeners a far afield as China and the USA!

Radio Respect was born in 2013 by joint founders Caroline and Chris Collins (CEO), in a shed, armed with nothing but a PC and a huge passion to fill the void that is so desperately needed, recognising that mental health is a thing that does not go away at 5:30pm.

Whilst Chris has been funding the project so far, Radio Respect has grown so fast and attracted lots of welcomed attention. After two years running the station from a small office in Bognor Regis, and becoming a Community Interest Company (CIC) in July 2017, we opened a shop in Feb 2018,  run by a team of dedicated volunteers, many of whom have to deal with mental health issues themselves.

In our current shop we sell vinyl, CDs, DVDs, tv and film memorabilia, and various vintage hardware, and already are planning our next move!

During the winter of 2018/19 we collected donations of coats, hats, gloves and blankets from the community. We invited the homeless to come for a hot drink and to help themselves to what was needed.

In March 2019 we combined the shop and studio, visits to the studio are welcome, come and meet our presenters!

In May 2019 Radio Respect had a meeting with Bognor Regis job centre. We have formed a partnership with the team at the job centre so their clients can come to us for mental health support, advice, work experience, to gain skills and to reduce isolation. Clients are also referred to us from local mental health services. The great thing is we have no waiting lists, peolpe can just pop along to our shop and have access to support and advice or just a chat and a cuppa in a non-clinical, relaxed environment.

Radio Respect has BIG plans for the future including moving to a bigger shop in Bognor Regis town centre, updating the studio equipment and gaining an FM licence.
